Australian agriculture, fisheries and forestry generated an estimated 10.6 million tonnes of pre-farm gate waste in 2020-21, comprising:

• 10.3 million tonnes of organic material (mostly used beneficially on-farm)

• 100,000 tonnes of plastic material (estimate includes agriculture and forestry, not fisheries)

• 159,000 tonnes of workshop material (estimate includes some but not all workshop waste materials).

An interactive dashboard is currently being developed to explore the organic, plastic and workshop waste generation across the following sectors in Australia:

• Horticulture
• Broadacre
• Livestock
• Dairy
• Forestry and logging
• Aquaculture (organic waste only).
